profile
My two greatest passions are music and technology. I take great interest in learning more about both, making it the focus of my college education. I am using skills acquired in study to develop my career in those fields. I have developed leadership skills through business and management classes and several positions of leadership in employment, along with interpersonal skills from working in teams, providing consultation, tutoring, and customer service.
My eventual goal is to teach at a high school or college level. I will pursue a master's degree in education after completing my bachelor's degree in computing so that I will be better prepared.
I have taken up many hobbies. I write music, dabble in amateur photography, and design websites. I have also expanded my education with classes in journalism and communication. My work has included radio announcing and producing, food service, and even industrial assembly. My choir has toured as far as Brasil and Argentina. I like to try new things, and I welcome change and diversity.
experience
Manager, EdTech Lab in the School of Education and Psychology at Southern Adventist University, Collegedale, Tenn. 2008-present
I manage a computer lab whose primary purpose is to provide a high quality learning environment for students in education technology. Each semester and during the summer I assist professors by teaching the web design and video units of classes in the lab and help students develop proficiency in software they may use in their teaching careers, such as Adobe’s Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. My assistants and I also consult the faculty and staff in the School of Education and Psychology on a variety of issues, from designing and editing publications to providing online assistance. We design and maintain the school’s websites and continually implement new technology.
Producer and Announcer, Classical 90.5, WSMC, Collegedale, Tenn. 2009-2011
At WSMC I produced programs such as Read With Me, a show where a reader from the community would come and read to children, or a readers' theater would perform in the studio. I was also in charge of recording concerts at Southern Adventist University, the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, and String Theory. As an announcer, I hosted music shows, choosing music and announcing pieces live.
Express Personnel Services at the Missouri Methodist Conference Center, Columbia, Mo. 2008
During my time at the Missouri Methodist Conference Center the camp department moved completely to a paperless filing system. I performed data entry and credit card transactions in registering campers and camp staff.
Circulation Desk Worker, McKee Library, Collegedale, Tenn. 2007-2008
My main duties at the McKee Library included providing customer service, shelving books and retrieving them for patrons, and keeping track of incoming and outgoing books.
Team Leader, Sunnydale/Goss, Inc., Centralia, Mo. 2005-2007
Sunnydale/Goss, Inc. is a company that assembles plastic oxygen tent canopies and cube tents for use in hospitals. In my time there, I worked on most of the machines, becoming familiar enough with them to aid in product designs, dramatically increase productivity at work stations, and write manuals for each machine. I was also assigned to shipping, inventory, and quality control during my employment there.
Stock Worker, Sunnydale Adventist Academy Cafeteria, Centralia, Mo. 2004-2005
At the cafeteria I kept inventory and put away incoming shipments. Keeping the shelves organized and accessible was my priority.
